Brief - Criterion Launch Party

Launch event for the revival of UG's Criterion Magazine by the Lit & Deb Society. Taking place in the Crane Bar, Galway.

Recreate the vibe that was present at the event and photograph people with the magazine in-hand.

My Thinking

Put a large focus on the people at the event, as the members of the Lit & Deb Society are publically facing.

The Crane is a distinct looking bar. It is important to maintain the atmosphere of the function room with pictures of distinct features and colour restoration in post-production.

Process

Working in a small room made sure I could see if something was occuring in the room. Using a tight lens, I was able to capture moments of people interacting with the magazine without much interferance.

To ensure my hi-fi style of photography would mesh well with the venue's aesthetics, I wanted to accentuate the yellows and greens in post-production. This creates a rich, appealing, Irish look to the photos that is befitting of the Crain and the magazine.
